For many churches, Easter is the most dressed-up Sunday of the year. The family photos last longer than the season, so plan the look early.
Two ways to wear Easter
Light and celebratory: cream, light grey, tan or a soft color, with a white shirt and a brighter tie and pocket square. Classic and formal: a navy, charcoal or brown three-piece with French cuffs, a medallion tie and a fedora. Both are right. Choose by your church's tradition.
The finishing pieces
- A pocket square that picks up one color from the tie, not all of them.
- A lapel pin or boutonniere for the day.
- Polished leather shoes matched to the belt.
- A hat for the walk in and out; off in the sanctuary.
Dressing the family
Coordinate on one color, not one outfit. If mom's dress is lavender, a lavender tie or square ties the photo together.
Timing
Easter Sunday 2027 is March 28. Order or come in for your fitting at least two weeks before so hemming is done with time to spare.
Questions
Can I wear a light suit to church?
Yes, especially at Easter. Keep the shoes and belt darker to anchor the look.
Is a three-piece too formal for Easter?
No. For many congregations it is exactly right.
