Sunday dress is about respect, not trend. The simple rule: dress one step above how you'd dress for work.
The suit
Navy, charcoal and brown are the foundation. A three-piece adds presence, and the vest keeps the look finished when the jacket comes off in the fellowship hall.
The shirt
White or light blue, pressed. French cuffs and cufflinks for Easter, first Sundays and special services.
The tie
Silk, with color or a medallion pattern. Church is where a man can wear a richer tie than he would to the office.
The hat
A wool fedora completes the traditional Sunday look. Wear it to and from service, and take it off when you enter the sanctuary.
The shoes
Leather, polished, and matched to the belt. Tassel loafers or cap-toe oxfords. No sneakers.
By occasion
- Regular Sunday: a two- or three-piece suit, white shirt and silk tie.
- Easter: lighter colors are welcome; add a pocket square and lapel pin.
- Homegoing or funeral: charcoal or black, a muted tie, minimal accessories, unless the family asks for a color.
- Church wedding: follow the couple's colors; navy and charcoal are always safe.
- Men's Day, ushers and choirs: one look across the line. Groups of five or more save 15%.
